A Jurisprudential and Hadith-Based Study of Suhṭ (graft) in the Qur'an and Hadiths and Its Application to Contemporary Economic and Social Issue

Abstract
The concept of suhṭ in Islamic religious texts, particularly the Qur'an and the hadiths of the infallibles, refers to unlawful wealth and illicit income, which have destructive effects on the well-being of individuals and society. This issue is of particular significance due to its direct link to economic and social corruption. The aim of this study is to conduct a jurisprudential and hadith-based analysis of the term suhṭ, examining its meanings and instances in religious texts, and applying it to contemporary economic and social challenges. The research employs a descriptive-analytical method, utilizing credible Qur'anic, hadith, and jurisprudential sources to assess and analyze the data. The findings of the study indicate that suhṭ in religious texts refers to practices such as bribery, usury, and fraudulent transactions, and is identified as a key factor in fostering economic corruption, diminishing public trust, and weakening moral integrity. In the present era, this concept manifests in activities such as usury-based banking, bribery within administrative systems, and the generation of illicit income, which lead to social inequality and instability. Therefore, avoiding suhṭ is not only an ethical principle but also a necessity for achieving economic and social justice.
