The rights of future generations, as a key component of intergenerational justice, are grounded in the principle of preserving natural resources and ensuring their equitable transfer to coming generations. This study investigates the extent to which the Noble Qur'an and the narrations of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) address the rights of future generations, given that the unchecked exploitation of natural resources has created extensive environmental and social challenges for both present and future generations alike. Employing a descriptive-analytical method and relying on the analysis of Qur'anic and narrative texts, the findings indicate that numerous verses of the Qur'an, through universal addresses (khiṭābāt 'āmmah) and categorical propositions (qaḍāyā ḥaqīqiyyah), emphasize the collective ownership of divine resources for all generations - both present and future. Likewise, the narrations of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) explicitly refer to the preservation of the rights of future generations. These findings demonstrate that religious foundations can serve as a robust basis for the development of protective legal frameworks at both national and international levels concerning the rights of future generations.
