In the science of fiqh al-ḥadīth, the narrator’s question is regarded as a significant connected verbal indicator (Connected Verbal Mirror) that assists in discerning the precise intent of a speaker's words-particularly when interpreting the speech of the infallibles. Among these narrations, a notable category comprises the companions’ questions concerning Qur’anic verses. While much scholarly attention has been paid to the contexts of these questions, less emphasis has been placed on their hermeneutical and epistemological outcomes-especially when posed by the intellectually distinguished companions of Imam al-Bāqir (PBUH). This study, employing a descriptive-analytical methodology, seeks to examine the Qur’anic inquiries directed to Imam al-Bāqir (PBUH) and to identify their interpretive, theological, and jurisprudential implications. The findings indicate that these inquiries functioned as dynamic tools for shaping Qur’an-based scholarly reasoning, training jurists in authentic methods of ijtihad (Independent Juristic Reasoning), correcting deviant exegetical trends, articulating a reasoned framework for religious questioning and response, and preserving a vast hadith corpus rooted in Qur’anic interpretation. Such outcomes highlight the enduring significance of these questions as active components in the transmission and development of Islamic knowledge.
